Rewind 2020
Finally, we are at the close of the unprecedented and perhaps the most turbulent year 2020. Time and again history has shown that it takes a crisis for mankind to showcase unified solidarity to fight against odds and how transformational mindset change can embrace problems into opportunities. The pandemic crisis has turned out to be a catalyst for entrepreneurial ecosystem. The year which started with uncertainty and gloom due to outburst of SARS COV 2, culminates on a positive note for the nation with sustained trend of reduced coronavirus cases and visibility of the vaccine rollout.

Recognition
Staying afloat in a sustainable manner during turbulent times has been the only option for organisations be it micro, small, medium or large organisations during year 2020. SINE emerged stronger by surfing through the turbulent seas and continued to contribute to the startup eco-system. The testimony of SINE’s role cannot be better described than the recognition from India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA, which conferred SINE as the Incubator of Year under Technovation Awards of IESA.
Important Events
SINE completed 15 years of the journey in 2019. As an acknowledgement to the contribution by the stakeholders, SINE organised an event in February with an intent to have a Dialogue with Stakeholders to celebrate spirit of entrepreneurship. The event brought together various stakeholders such as academicians, policy-makers, industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and investors a dialogue. Dignatories who graced the occasion included industry stalwarts like, Mr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Author, Corporate Advisor and Former ED, Tata Sons and Mr. Hemant Luthra Advisor, Former Chairman, Mahindra CIE, Mr. Praveen Pardeshi (IAS), former Municipal Commissioner, BMC, Dr. Anita Gupta, Advisor (Scientist ‘G’) DST-NSTEDB, Dr. Manish Diwan, Head-Strategic Partnership and Entrepreneurship Development, BIRAC. The event was a resounding success with over 300 participants attending it.
A platform to stay connected even during the lockdown was created through the Power Hour Series. This platform was used extensively to connect experts, practitioners, investor, regulators and other agencies with entrepreneurs and startup.  Through the sessions, valuable insights and discussions were exchanged to understand the how's and what's of overcoming challenges faced during the COVID times and beyond. Power Hour series of SINE became platform to reach our innovators and entrepreneurs with serious themes by subject experts such as : How to manage Cash Flow, How to prepare for Fund Raising ,Leadership during Turbulent Times, Getting Customer Ready, Mastering Selling Skills, Business Strategy, Early Exit for Tech startups etc. 
Corporate Engagement
SINE continued its engagement at corporate level for programs, CSR and engagement with Startups. Some notable engagements were with Intel India, Mahindra & Mahindra, CitiusTech, Shell and Altair
Incubation and Programs
During the calendar year  SINE on boarded 20 companies under its incubation and seed support programs and 46 innovators and entrepreneurs under its pre-incubation programs. 
DST- CAWACH
National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India launched an initiative, Centre for Augmenting WAR with COVID-19 Health Crisis (CAWACH) to support start-ups with solutions that address COVID-19 challenges in the areas of Diagnostics & Drugs, Disinfectants & Sanitizers, Ventilators & Medical Equipment, PPEs and Informatics. SINE was mandated to implement the program. Fifty one companies have been supported under the program. 
MeitY- SASACT
SASACT initiative is a Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) measure to respond to changing environment in a reiterating the need and importance of quick and reliable technology solutions in accordance with
local needs by  supporting electronics hardware/ ICT based tech startups for developing or re-purposing technologies, tools, systems, solutions to respond to the post COVID-19 scenario. SINE is one of the implementation agencies for the program. Ten startups have been selected for support by SINE under the program.
Prototype and EIR Grants
SINE continued to manage several government grant programs to support  Idea to proof of concept, product prototypes and entrepreneurs and residents. These programs included BIRAC’s BIG, DST’s NIDHI-PRAYAS and EIR and MeitY’s TIDES 2.0 grants.
PLUGIN Accelerator
The 3rd edition of Plugin, a collaborative accelerator program with DST & Intel India, culminated 11 impressive startups showcase at the virtual Demo Day. More than 600 delegates from across the country comprising corporates, investors,
business leaders, and entrepreneurs participated in the event.  The key highlight of the Demo day was follow-up 150+ one-on-one meetings between the startups and Investors/ industries with a few closing the clients orders.
Indo-Swiss Academia Industry Training (AIT)
The Indo-Swiss Academia-Industry Training (AIT) closed its 6th edition. Twenty Indian and Swiss Innovators in each edition come together and undergo 2 weeks training and mentoring sessions by Indian and Swiss experts.
Startup Space
The year 2020 has been a defining moment in business. Majority of companies were trying to find new ways to survive. The result was inspiring – product launch, repurposing the exisiting products for convid19 specific solutions, reinventing business models, adjusting to the new normal of work at home, adapting to disruptions in supply chains, and more.

Product/Solution launch
17 startups supported by SINE launched COVID-19 specific solutions. These solutions ranged from diagnostics to informatics, disinfectants, informatics, PPEs et al.
Emertech Innovations kept supply chain live during lockdown by building a Blockchain Platform AgroTrust to assist farmers providing complete traceability & price transparency of farm produce across supply chain.

Indent Design all set to roll out on their disabled friendly Electric wheel chairs – with multiple client orders in place.
Lucideus Tech launched a new cyber risk assessment app called Safe Me for individuals to assess their own cyber risk. This SINE graduate startup aims to assess every single device of cyber risk they face. Know more
AVRAN the product of Afresh Technology Solutions and Navork Innovations has been nominated by Channelier FMCG Awards, as the best Product Launch of the year 2020.
Avaran, is an alcohol-free instant self-sanitizing nano-solution that when sprayed on any surface of household creates a protective nano-coating on the surface and kills up to 99.999% viruses, bacteria and other pathogens and remains active on that surface for at least 10 days.
Fund Raising
Peppermint, a product by SINE incubated company Aubotz Labs attracted investment Venture Capitalist, Naveen Kshatriya.   Know more
Atomberg Technologies secures Rs 70 crore in Series B funding led by A91 Partners. Atomberg is into Energy-efficient smart fans. Know more
Whiterabbit.ai  raised funding of USD 10mn from global investors. The company is developing AI based tool for early detection of breast cancer. To add to its achievements, the company also received FDA approval for its product. The company's research was published in Radiology: Artificial Intelligence.
Awards and Accolades
Endimension Technology, received "Life Science Award" at the Asian Entrepreneurship Awards (AEA) 2020 in an event organized online by The University of Tokyo, Mitsui Fudosan and AEA Steering Committee.  Know more
Transpact Enterprises were the winners of India Innovation Cup 2020 and represented India at Gitex Dubai 2020, an annual technology event held  at World Trade Centre  Dubai.
