The quarter ending June 2021 has been a delightful period for SINE. It was a fulfilling quarter where SINE startups made headlines in news coverage for their stellar efforts and contribution towards National cause- be it a SINE graduate startup entering the unicorn club to startups contributing to fight against COVID pandemic. Startup founders, many being IIT Bombay alumni, have achieved milestones in their respective field of innovation and research. SINE also strengthened corporate linkages during this period.

Prof Rahul Purwar along with his team at ImmunoAdaptive and researchers at IIT Bombay, successfully conducted clinical trials of the indigenously developed CAR T-cell therapy for blood cancer treatment along with Tata Memorial Centre. Once approved, this therapy will make cancer treatment much more affordable in India and accessible to various strata of the society.

h2e power have successfully started developing zero emission, hydrogen fuel cell based 3 wheeler automobiles under an Indo-Canadian program. This will enable a more efficient transport system at a much affordable cost to the public. Also, recently a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between h2e Power Systems and Greenstat Hydrogen Private Limited, an Indian subsidiary of Norwegian company Greenstat Hydrogen. Both companies will now be working closely to build an end-to-end ecosystem to produce, store and dispense green hydrogen as well as to execute projects both in the mobility sector and stationery. ![]() Haystack Analytics collaborates with BMC to pilot genome sequencing of COVID-19 virus
Haystack Analytics, a medtech startup at SINE, are working with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation as part of their pilot project to conduct genome sequencing of variants of COVID-19 virus, to better understand virus transmission. This pilot project is in association with Kasturba Hospital. The Dashboard developed by Haystack has helped reduce the time required for processing and sequencing to less than 36 hours, than the usual of 72 hours to 15 days ![]() Pantanjali Pharma receives final approvals for Rapid Covid-19 Antigen Test.
Patanjali Pharma, a healthcare startup recently received final approvals for its affordable Rapid Antigen Test that offers COVID 19 diagnosis & surveillance at the cost of Rs 100 per test. The Rapid covid-19 tests takes approximately 10-15 minutes and would be helpful for early diagnosis of Covid-19 in rural areas and resource constraint areas where infrastructure of pathology and diagnostic labs are not available.
![]() Greyeast Technologies was recently announced winner for DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0. They won the first prize for their technology to treat explosive waste. Dare to Dream 2.0 is a scheme launched for emerging technologies to promote the individuals & startups for innovation in defence and aerospace technologies in the country. ![]() Nunam Technologies were announced as the fourth runner up at the CISCO Global Problem Solver Challenge for their repurposed Lithium Ion Batteries (LIBs). These batteries come with high energy-to-weight ratios, low self-discharge rate, no memory effect, and reduced storage costs by 30-70%. ![]() Ameliorate Biotech has been announced the runner up at the recent ZS Prize 2021 awards, winning a cash prize of Rs. 25 Lakhs. The startup is currently developing a single diagnostic device or a rapid testing kit that can detect and differentiate between mosquito borne diseases like Malaria, Chikungunya, and Dengue. ![]() Care Mother and MedPrime Technologies received Honourable Mentions at the recent ZS Prize 2021 awards. Care Mother won the recognition for the idea of an AI powered portable, wireless and smartphone based fetal monitor. MedPrime Technologies won the recognition for their product - digital microscopy machine, that can perform multiple functions of a Diagnostic Lab and benefit remote areas of the country ![]()
Zeus Numerix was declared winner of the iDEX (Innovation for Defence Excellence) challenge during the Aero India 2021 air show in Bengaluru for developing simulation software for making warships invisible to radar. The Company has been granted Rs. 1.5 crore by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to partner the public sector Goa Shipyard Ltd to simulate hull designs to make warships invisible to radar. They will simulate this process on supercomputers rather than physically designing hulls and superstructures.
SINE, being a leading technology business incubator, has been at the forefront of many ecosystem activities. SINE Team members are invited on various knowledge sharing platforms to share their experiences. SINE is also taking many steps to spread its reach to the global ecosystem. One such initiative is ![]() To increase exposure of the international business environment for students, SINE, IIT Bombay and University of Toronto join hands to initiate a student program – Indo-Canada Entrepreneurship Exchange (ICEE). A four-event series across 2021 has been planned leading to the main program. The launch event was successfully organised in May 2021 and it shared unique insights for students who are open to explore opportunities into the Indo-Canadian startup ecosystem. More than 100 students from India and Canada attended the launch event. ![]()
SINE continues with its series of virtual sessions, Power Hour Biotech series with focus on life sciences, AgriTech, Medtech domain, regulatory and certification. SINE, in partnership with e-Club, IITB organised the second edition of Pitch-Perfect. Over 160 applications were received and top 10 startups got to present their product / startup idea to the SINE Team. The winners will get a chance to get incubated at SINE and access to partner with students from IITB for co-founding opportunities. ![]() ![]() SINE, in its continuous endeavor to value add to the startup ecosystem, conducted a comprehensive study for CII National Startup Council and created a framework to measure performance of technology business incubators.
