Gupshup joins the Unicorn Club
Proud moment for SINE and celebration across the academia incubation ecosystem as SINE graduate startup, Gupshup has entered the Unicorn Club. Currently valued at $1.4 billion after having raised $100 million from  Tiger Global Management and making it the tenth Indian startup to join the unicorn club this year. Gupshup, a Conversational Messaging Platform was founded by Beerud Sheth and Rakesh Mathur, serial entrepreneurs and an IIT Bombay alumni. Gupshup is the first company from the academia incubation ecosystem to enter the unicorn start-up club.
A story of grit and evolution. Started in 2004 and incubated at SINE, the company raised funding in the initial 5 years of existence with a dry period of almost a decade. During this period, the company focused on building a strong topline and bottom-line so as to eventually go public. They also experimented with their product offerings 3-4 times during this period before finally scripting the growth story.
A Deal with the Indian Army
IdeaForge Technology, continues to serve the nation with its indigenous system built to  cater for the most demanding surveillance operations of the Indian Army. The UAV startup, founded by Ankit Mehta, Rahul Singh, Ashish Bhat and Vipul Joshi recently bagged $20 million project from Indian Military to supply high altitude SWITCH UAVs. 
Following the announcement, Infosys said that it will be investing $1 million in IdeaForge. Things don’t stop here. At the start of March 2021, the homegrown UAVs manufacturer raised $2 million from venture debt firm BlackSoil. The funds will be used to meet the working capital. Read More
Awards and Accolades
Zeus Numerix emerged as one of the winners at fourth edition of Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) India Start-Up Challenge. Zeus won the award for its Reduction of Radar Signature of Ships Project.  The   Certificate  of  Recognition was awarded to Zeus Numerix at the hands of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar, Defence Production Secretary Raj Kumar and IDEX DIO CEO Sanjay Jaju.

Navork Innovations, led by Abhishek Sahgal, won the Aegis Graham Bell Award under the category of ‘Innovative Preventive Measures to Combat COVID19’.  Check out the video here
Product Launch 
VAJRA Kavach, a disinfection machine developed by  Inphlox Water Systems (INDRA Water) in association with the Centre for Augmenting WAR with COVID-19 Health Crisis (CAWACH), has been set up at the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) office. VAJRA Kavach uses advanced oxidation, electrostatic discharge, and UVC light spectrum to inactivate the viruses, bacteria, and other microbial strains present on the PPE. 
Paving the way in developing Green Energy solutions for the world, h2e Power announces the Initiation of production at pilot facility In Pune. A step forward to fulfil their goal of a Carbon Neutral economy they had their first kg of Green Hydrogen produced in Pune. H.E. Dr. Jüergen Morhard, The Consul General of Germany, Mumbai inaugurated our pilot production facility in India.

SINE START


Over the last 17 years, SINE has been a leading incubator that is offering start-to-scale support to young minds across the tech domain. SINE has also been part of various training programs in collaboration with government, academia as well as the corporate. At the onset of 2021, SINE launched it very own training program for early-stage startups called SINE START (Startup Training to Achieve Right Target) The program was done in partnership with GDC, IIT Madras and aimed to broaden the participants’ thinking from a technology-centric mindset to a venture centric mindset of doing business along with focus on customer discovery. This is the first time where SINE has independently organised a training module.

We welcome the new incubates who have got incubated with us and received funding support. The companies are in the domains ranging from Robotics, Agri-tech, Telecommunication, and Healthcare-Biotech.

    

Ecosystem Engagement

Virtual Investor Day Meet


SINE successfully organised an Investor Day Meet in March 2021. For the first time, the entire event was conducted virtually owing to the restrictions due to the pandemic. 13 SINE Startups pitched to 22 investors who attended the event. Investors and startups both had excellent feedback for this half day long event. One of the investor attendees quoted “Overall experience was exceptionally smooth and seamless. Startup curation was particularly good, Look forward to the next one.”

Visit by Minister
Hon. Minister Skill Development, Employment & Entrepreneurship, Government of Maharashtra, Shri Nawab Malik visited SINE to get an insight into SINE's role in building the entrepreneurial ecosystem. He invested time in interacting with SINE incubated startups, visited their offices and SINE lab facilities.
